Realistic music boxes and sound design
This virtual instrument offers charming tones from 2 multi-sampled music boxes, plus a small collection of complimentary sounds designed for layering. The engine it lives in, Floe, provides broad sound-design capabilities, allowing you to layer, filter, tune and process the sounds to your liking. 28 production-ready presets are included, exploring everything from high-realism music boxes to hybrid-synth sounding keys and ambient textures.
Two multi-sampled music boxes
At the core of Music Box Suite are 2 multi-sampled music boxes, both of which feature 4 round-robin. The first is the Victorian music box. This instrument has a warm antique tone. The second is the Tiny music box. This has a bright, sweet sound. By tastefully layering these 2 instruments, new compelling sounds can be made. Also included in Music Box Suite are a few of the winding-up sounds and the ‘whir’ of the music box device. These give you the option to create a fully realistic music box piece.
Organic sound design
This product features a collection of complimentary samples that are designed to work with the real music box samples. This expands Music Box Suite’s potential from more than just realistic music box emulation. The 28 included presets demonstrate this; there are keys, pads and ambient textures, each set up with macros and tags in Floe. These complimentary sounds are primarily morphed versions of real music box samples, however, there are also a few additional instruments such as a guitar pluck, a glockenspiel and synth strings.
Using the engine's simple interface, instruments can be layered, reversed, looped, tuned and distorted. This pairing of Music Box Suite's samples inside the engine results in a unique tool that is ideal for adding a charming melodic aspect to your track, whether it be an electronic piece or a cinematic one.
The Victorian music box is part of an antique photo album, one of the two multi-sampled music boxes in Music Box Suite.

Music Box Suite runs inside Floe, FrozenPlain’s free, open-source sample library player and the direct successor to the Mirage engine.

The samples for Music Box Suite are mostly taken from our old Kontakt library, Dual Music Box. The samples have been greatly improved and have been put into our new engine, Floe, which offers vastly more features for creative sound design. As well as this, there a new set of extra instruments that are designed to be blended with the music box sounds.
